The look I get when I don't have the papaya ready to eat when he's hungry!

And so the rains came and came and kept coming...

What do you do for Halloween in a country without pumpkins? You carve other fruit!
We carved cantalope, watermelon, papaya, and a cucumber with some success.

There is always a pretty butterfly to see out in the parks.

You can see the coffee on the hillside behind the always raging river that runs behind our town.

Monthly News

As we finish up November and head into the holiday season, we are already on Christmas since there is no Thanksgiving here! Decorations are very popular here and all the principal cities in Colombia will have huge displays all throughout the main streets of the towns.

My Wednesday English-Spanish chat group has been meeting for about a month now and we have had a good time sharing and learning more about each others' lives. It is a great opportunity to share and practice language skills and develop relationships.

Our mission trip to Ecuador next year will be the first week in July. We currently have 12 people that are part of the team and welcome anyone that is interested in participating. If you can't come, but would like to help support the cost of materials for the projects, we'd appreciate donations. You can send them to us in the states at 1411 Providence Drive, Lawrenceville,GA 30044 and my sister will get the money to us.

One of the themes this month at church as been service and we wanted to do our part to serve as well as bring in a little holiday spirit. We offered two workshops at the church and invited people from school, work, and church to come and make Christmas crafts. I think everyone had a good time and enjoyed themselves, as well as got to share some time together.

I put up a separate link to our bird and butterfly pages on our home page because a lot of people had asked about them. We have had a new migratory bird visiting us here and he seems to be noctural; every night he is out there squawking and "singing" until 2 or 3 in the morning. It is like a pleasant car alarm. We can never see it, but here is a picture someone else got, obviously at night.

We are getting ready for a lot of travel in December, so look for hopefully a lot of great pictures next month. We are taking Graciela, our exchange student from Ecuador, to see the sites in Bogota and Medellin, and then we head to Italy for Christmas. Anyone that knows me knows that it has been my dream trip forever so I am very excited.

Our greatest praise this month has been the recovery of my dad from his accident. He is mending nicely and, believe it or not, has already been back out on the four-wheeler and shot a deer. If you know anything about him, he can't sit still for long regardless of any pain. We thank God every day for His hand in the situation and for all the blessing He brings into our lives. Be sure to take the time this holiday season to talk with God and make Him a part of your day because He wants that relationship more than you know.
