"We make a living by what we get, we
make a life by what we give." Winston Churchill
Mindo, Ecuador
Mindo is a small town located about 2.5
hours north of Quito out in the cloud forest. It is known for its
orchids, butterflies, and waterfalls. Many hikers enjoy spending time
here.
Project: distribute
100 gifts, treat bags, and some needed shoes/clothes to children at the
Iglesia Bautista in Mindo; games and a video for the children; short
gospel message.
God Working: We had great plans to have
everything organized, but due to miscommunication, the pastor didn't
know for sure we were coming until we got there! (Pretty typical for
Ecuador I have to say.) We also didn't know at the time that the town
was having it's local festival so we had to try and get the church kids
after school to come to the church for the program without having the
whole town show up just for free stuff.
All went well and in the end,
our presence and the children talking about what was going on at the
church, encouraged interest in finding out more about the church of the
passerbys that had been at the festival. Pastor Freddie was very
excited at the possibilities and said it was a blessing to all Mindo
that CMC had been a part of their day.

All were excited about what they received from dollar store dolls to
new-to-them used shoes. It was truly a blessing to see the gratitude
for whatever was received.
