Honduras - 2006
Medical Mission and Church Construction
Someone told me that Honduras was the
land of mountains of children and that was definitely the case! They
were a smiling and friendly bunch though that made the experience
heart-felt and satisfying.
The medical team spent a day in
four different locations offering medical services to all that came.
While the people waited, the Honduran pastors with the team talked to
and preached the message of salvation. Approx. 700 people were seen in
the four days.
Two doctors, Dr. Dick from the states, and
Dr. Elmer from Honduras, worked diligently to help in every way that
could. An generous amount of supplies were donated by local hospitals
and clinics in the Douglasville, Georgia, area which were invaluable.
This was only one of several churches the
group from Crossroads Church has helped build. Over the last seven
years, the churches have continually grown and leaders of new groups
are trained and given the tools to help them be successful in their
country.
People waited for hours to be able to get medical attention which
provided great opportunity to share the Word.
The greatest rewards and blessings for me come from doing what I can to
make a difference in the life of a child, even if it is just to let
them know I care enough about them to come to their country and get to
know them for only a day.
People often ask me, "Isn't it better to be involved in one project in
one place and really know it and make a difference than several short
projects in different countries?" The answer for me is I will go
wherever and whenever I feel God is calling me in my life and try to
take advantage of every opportunity He gives me to share the life
changing message of Jesus Christ.
